 The Root Chakra, also known as the 1^st Chakra is located at the base of your spine and near the tailbone. This chakra is the energy center of the body and is associated with grounding and day-to-day survival.

When it is balanced, we feel accomplished and financially and emotionally secure. When it is overactive, we feel fear, insecurity and anxiety. We may even encounter some health problems such as lower back pain, hip problems, cysts and digestive issues.

On the other hand, when the root chakra is underactive, there may be issues such as constant daydreaming, lack of focus and appearing spaced out.

Crystals are often used in crystal healing therapies to help balance the chakras.

The colors that usually represent the Root Chakra are red, brown and black. Common crystals that can be used to balance the Root Chakra are Black Onyx, Carnelian, Bloodstone, Mookaite Jasper, Black Obsidian and Tiger Eye, just to name a few.
